Add a License File

Prerequisites

Before you add a license file:

1. Make sure your Keysight software is installed on this machine.
2. Have a license file that was issued for this machine or for a USB dongle.
   
   • If you don't have a license file, see How do I get a license file?.
   • If you have received your license file attached to an email from Keysight, save the file to a location on this machine.
   • If you don't know where your license file is on this machine, see How do I locate my license file on my machine?
3. If your license is locked to a dongle (USB key, sold separately) rather than to a computer or instrument:
   • You must install a dongle driver. Follow these steps to install the dongle driver:
     
     1. Get the FLEXID10 USB Dongle Driver from http://www.keysight.com/find/LicensingUsbDriver.
     2. Extract the .zip file to this machine (Windows only).
     3. Execute Setup64.exe (on 64-bit Windows), Setup32.exe (on 32-bit Windows), or the Linux .rpm file.
     4. Follow the installer prompts, accepting the default values.
   • Connect the dongle to a USB port on this machine.
     
     

To Add a License for Use on This Machine

To license a Keysight product for use on this machine:

1. In PathWave Desktop Edition, click , then click Licenses and Support.
2. Choose Add License, then click Add a License File.
3. Click Browse, browse to the license file on your machine, and click Open.
   License files have the extension .lic. A typical license file name looks like this: 10e7c6207e9c_1083337.lic.
4. Click Install License File.

You will not be able to add a license if it specifies a different port number from Keysight licenses already installed on this machine. You will need to edit your license file(s) to specify the same port number. See How do I add/change the port number of a license file?

Some license files employ an earlier version of Keysight licensing and must be added using an earlier license management tool. If you try to add such licenses in PathWave, you may see a message directing you to use Keysight License Manager 5, which you can download from http://www.keysight.com/find/licensingtools. You can also refer to http://www.keysight.com/find/licensingtools to understand what tool you need for other licenses that cannot be managed with either PathWave Desktop Edition or Keysight License Manager 5.
