What is a host ID?

Your host ID uniquely identifies your host (computer or instrument) to Keysight licensing.

• Node-locked licenses are locked to a particular host ID and can only be used on that host.
• Transportable licenses are also locked to a host ID but can be moved (transported) to a different host ID and then used there.
• USB portable licenses are locked to a USB key (dongle).
• Floating licenses are locked to a license server and can be used by many machines that are connected to that license server.

When you request a license file, you must provide a host ID of the machine where you will install the license, or of the USB key in the case of a USB portable license. The host ID(s) of this machine and of any connected USB keys are shown in the Add License view and in the Add a License File dialog box. For example:
