Event Based Power Analysis

The Keysight X8712A IoT device battery life optimization solution combines a DC power analyzer, SMU modules, RF event detector, and Keysight Event-Based Power Analysis software in one integrated solution, enabling you to:

  • Detect design weakness with quick and effortless event-based power consumption analysis. 
    Measure, save and recall up to 8 days of data to see your device’s charge consumption behavior in a typical operating cycle. The X8712A automatically correlates critical RF or DC events of your device to the power consumed, down to the sub-system or events level. With this capability, you are able to identify the events or subsystems that are consuming the most current and optimize it accordingly to meet the battery life requirements.
  • Easily estimate battery life of your IoT device. 
    When measuring the power consumption at the sub-system level, the Keysight Event-based Power Analysis software calculates the RF or DC event's occupancy time and current consumption contribution in percentage and presents the information in a tabular and chart format. 

    For homogenous signals, this allows you to easily obtain the estimated battery life in hours, in a very short time. By specifying the battery capacity and area of interest, the Event-based Power Analysis software will display the estimated battery life. The battery life estimation function is useful as a figure of merit to compare between different conditions. Designer can use this function to quantify battery life enhancement for design optimization works.
